Details:
On June 1, 2020, the Endicott Village Board voted 5-0 to begin the process of rescinding the Code Law change that No Burn Broome has been fighting for two months. We are gratified by this turn of events, but caution that the effort is not finished until this process is completed.

Further, we trust that the effort to build an incinerator within the Village is ended forever. We do not want to see a company like SungEel succeed in constructing a facility that can contaminate our community and endanger our children and families. This facility is located next to ball fields, a Village park and homes, by no means an acceptable location.

We continue to fundraise through our GoFundMe account for legal costs and communication costs including lawn signs, pamphlets and other means until our work is done. Our work is not finished until we are guaranteed that no company will be able to construct a facility designed to create pollution that impacts our community and future.

To that end, we urge you to write letters of three paragraphs or less to Governor Andrew Cuomo that express your personal hope that he saves our community from damage and prevent a foreign company from hurting our youth. Remember that his father, Governor Mario Cuomo had to oversee the clean-up of the dioxin ridden State Office Building after the transformer fire damaged our greater community.

Endicott has a history of toxins from the tanneries of Endicott-Johnson Corp. and the accidental TCE spill at IBM. Those were not purposeful as the SungEel pollution would be.

We should continue the pressure upon the Village Board to ensure that they follow through with the rescission of the recycling law that would allow such facilities within the entire industrial zone. Again, thank you to everyone that has helped get us to this place.
